1月3日、 自分の演奏がラジオで流れます！！（全国放送！）

こないだの１０月１８日からの１ヶ月間、
New York と Boston に行きました。
目的はこのレコーディングでした。

それは、
日本の老舗ラジオ番組で、自分の演奏を使ってもらうためでした。
その内容がちょっと分かりましたので、お知らせします。

[Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra Backs McCoy Tyner at Montreal International Jazz Festival in July]

Alumnus trumpeter Christian Scott performs with Tyner and top Berklee students.

The Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra (BCJO) will perform with iconic pianist and composer McCoy Tyner—one of the singular jazz artists of the modern era—at the Montreal International Jazz Festival on July 3 at 9:30 p.m. in the Theatre Jean-Duceppe, at 175 Ste-Catherine West. The program will be composed of Tyner's sprawling, expressive compositions for big band. The top student musicians of the BCJO will back Tyner's trio throughout the 90-minute program. They'll be joined by trumpet sensation and Concord Records artist Christian Scott, a 2005 Berklee graduate. Tickets are $48.50 CDN.

The Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra is comprised of 19 of the best and brightest young talents at the college. In addition to playing music by great jazz masters like McCoy Tyner, each semester the group debuts a brand new repertoire of original compositions that bend the jazz canon and utilize the many colors of a big band in new ways. Says director Greg Hopkins, professor of jazz composition at Berklee, "This is the premier jazz orchestra at the college, and it will be an honor for our students to perform McCoy Tyner's big band music with him. The students are pretty much beside themselves, preparing for this chance to play with one of their idols, in one of the world's premier music festivals."

Hopkins, who has played trumpet with artists including Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, Burt Bacharach, and Ella Fitzgerald, pulled together an amazing new BCJO for this performance. Like Berklee itself, the band represents a true melting pot of rich musical talent from around the world. Performers in this edition of the BCJO hail from Argentina, Japan, Scotland, Turkey, and from every corner of the U.S. The musical expression of the ensemble represents a unique fusion of the players' international and regional musical styles. Says Hopkins, "The breadth and depth of musical ideas that these students create is truly astounding."

The group was founded at Berklee in the 1950s by Hopkins's predecessor, the late Herb Pomeroy, and was known as the Recording Band for many years. Since its inception, it has been the place where the college's best jazz composers and arrangers bring their work. Toshiko Akiyoshi, Mike Gibbs, Arif Mardin, Quincy Jones, and Alan Broadbent have all written or arranged for the group. Band alumni include Joe Zawinul, Gary Burton, Gabor Szabo, Michael Mantler, Gene Perla, Ernie Watts, Miroslav Vitous, Harvey Mason, George Mraz, Billy Drewes, John Scofield, Bill Pierce, and Kenny Werner, to name just a few.

[ Winners of the 2007 THELONIOUS MONK INSTITUTE jazz composition competition ]



The BandA ecLectics is an ensemble of international musicians with diverse music and ethnic backgrounds.
Their live performances involve original, through composed material fused with improvisation.
The textures, the rhythms and the players spring out of affiliation with jazz, various world traditions, and certain film and classical music. The number of band members can be flexible.



The number of musicians can be flexible between 5 and 11, according to the venue and budget

The BandA ecLectics were put together on January 2007 by pianist-composer Petros Sakelliou.
The group is comprised of a selection of professional musicians with diverse affiliations ranging from jazz to the folk music of Greece, Latin America and Spain, to classical music as well as improvisation.

The band recorded a 7 track album on May 31st 2007, named "Angeles Los Boston". The cd got released in June 2007.

Shortly after the cd release, one of the tracks, namely “Swingalong”, was announced winner of
the 2007 THELONIOUS MONK INSTITUTE jazz composition competition.

The band flew to Los Angeles (October, 2007) and performed the winning composition at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, as part of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz event, 2007 trumpet competition and tribute to Herbie Hancock. The event’s attendance was approximately 3,600 people.

The group is currently booking the upcoming season, while preparing to record a new album.


A piano, 4 chairs.
For large venues we'll require a PA system and 5-15 microphones, depending on the space.
For small venues we would play acoustically with our own equipment.

理由は様々で、でも気持ち的には今後を見据えて考えた結果です。
どんな形にせよ、またアメリカに来れたらいな〜と思っています。
アメリカのみならず、そのうち世界に旅ができたらいいな〜と。
今だけかもしれないけど、世界から集まった人達と友達になれた事はとても嬉しい事だし、
貴重な経験と財産みたいなものを手にできてよかった。

アメリカに居る間に、日本じゃできないことを頑張ってみようと思います。

4/23~27 の４泊５日、
参加している Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestraのツアーに行ってきました。
メンバーの演奏がすごすぎました。
演奏場所は
老舗clubの [Blues Alley]

そして、観光もしてきました。

最近は。。。

友達のコンサート、リサイタルに出まくってます。
主にBig Band が多い。
共通して言えるのは、それぞれ個性溢れるオリジナリティー満載のミュージシャンの方が断然素晴らしい。
むしろその個性を磨く為に来ている訳だから。
自分も個性やコンセプトを誇れるアーティストになりたいものだ。

今年もよろしくお願いいたします。


2007年の年末はBoston, New Yorkで嵐のような忙しさで、コンサートを沢山やり、そして課題に追われ。。。
そんな１年でしたが、今年は自分らしさを出す、みたいな事に重点をおけるように人間的に成長したいとおもいます。
なんか最近作曲が面白い。もちろん誰かに提供するとかそういったとこまでの自信があるのではなく、つまり自分のコンサートに向けての作曲。演奏してくださるミュージシャンがいて、曲が成り立つ。。。という、曲的にはまだまだ未熟なんですが。。。
今月のライブでやりますー。
